The Federation of Zionist Youth (FZY) is the largest Zionist youth movement in Britain for 14-24 year olds. FZY is committed to the goals of Zionism and believes in the centrality of Israel in Jewish life all over the world. FZY's commitment to Zionism is manifested through four specific aims: Tzedaka: Incorporates fundraising, charity, and the values of righteousness Tarbut: The celebration and development of Jewish culture and creativity Aliya: (lit. going up) is the belief that all Jews should be living in Israel, the Jewish state. This is considered by many in the movement to be the greatest dugma (personal example) a member of the movement can set Magen: (lit. shield) is concerned with the defence of Jewish rights and Jewish life all over the world The movement sees Zionism within the context of a deep connection to Judaism. FZY celebrates all main streams of Judaism and strives to cater for committed members of all religious affiliations. On Shabbat at FZY events, Orthodox, Reform and Masorti services are typically held side by side and a non-prayer option is always offered. FZY prides itself on creating an environment where people of differing beliefs can strive together towards common goals and learn from one another. FZY offers a wide variety of activities including weekly meetings, weekend events, summer and winter camps, Israel Tours, and Year Course, our gap year programme in Israel.
